At Open Kitchen SLO, we are dedicated to addressing the hardships of start up entrepreneurship within the food industry and developing long-term solutions to help these entrepreneurs succeed over time and support local community businesses in need. Founded on the belief that all people deserve a chance to attempt their food dreams despite their financial standing, we strive to provide a kickstart at rates that are abnormal and lower to regular shared kitchen and commissaries. Our organization works tirelessly to develop, consult, market, and provide space for these small entrepreneurs, sometimes exposing their product to areas that are unaware of their craft. Our mission is to ensure that every person has the same opportunity to start a food business despite who you are and your income status. We strive to improve mental business anixieties, empower small entrepreneurs, and grow their business to a level they may have not foreseen. By focusing on local needs and involving community members in every step of the process, we create lasting change that empowers individuals and transforms lives.
Open Kitchen SLO was established in 2025 by a group of passionate individuals who recognized the critical need for help to food entrepreneurs. Witnessing the hard grind of these small businesses, we had also notice that only food entrepreneurs had no means of obtaining help or guidance without having large capital. As there are many programs that help all business and non profits, there are no means of help for a food entrepreneurs that needs space, storage, and advice from consultants that are specifically knowledgeable in the food industry. Many typical business consultants can not see differences between regular business and food businesses leading to detrimental mistakes and advise, such as substantial overheads and rents or large loans that the company can’t support. These devastating effects can ruin a company trying to get their feet off the ground. Our main focus is to help grow these companies, reduce their overhead and consult them perfectly to prevent them from falling into large holes that may not be able to be climbed out of. We’ve successfully helped over 70 business kick start. Many of these companies have grown exponentially. Our board consists of two success women entrepreneurs that outgrew or initial concept and first hand witnessesed the program and all it has to offer. As now these companies have had outgrown the startup facility and began selling across the world and making local brick and mortars, they have joined the team to help other food entrepreneurs like them succeed. Our efforts have resulted in significant impact within the local community for these food entrepreneurs.
